well the contest its closed now, today my dear Roxana, announced, so here is my own interpretation of the paint.

first of all.- was inspired on a tool song called vicarious:

I need to watch things die from a good safe distance
Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same so why can't we just admit it?...

The universe is hostile
So impersonal
Devour to survive
So it is, so it's always been ...

We all feed on tragedy.
It's like blood to a vampire.

Vicariously, I live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I....

thats fragments of the song.. and you are the vicarious at this moment, 'cuz you see him suffer, and you feel excited, you dont help him but your pupils are dilated and you really enjoy the time.. like a sick voyeur...like a morbid snuff movie, we all do the same always, the world is damaged and the people is just indifferent.

the tree symbolizes the anchor that keep you indifferent and static to the problems of another people, as everybody knows the crow is the symbol for the death..
¿why the head up in the hand? theres another part of the song:
Don't look me at like I am a monster
Frown out your one face, but with the other (you)
Stare like a junkie into the TV
Stare like a zombie while the mother holds her child,
Watches him die,
Hands to the sky cryin "why, oh why?"

and of course keep balanced the elements in the space.
its a clasical diagonal composition with positive-negative color balance...
i hope this description doesnt dissapoint you a lot, but its what i ment. and 'cuz the contest was talk in silence, i guess that the face of the guy told us everyone that he is in pain...___________________

the meaning i got of it was pain.
and how the person was growing into something he wasn't supposed to be.

& i think the title fits well

It seems to me he is being anchored down in some kind of hell like place, while part of him still strives for something higher. Or maybe he is just dying a horrible and painfull death.

Perhaps receiving someone else's punishment, or viewing another's pain and taking it to heart, thus feeling it yourself.
